About

Gifted with a professional watercolor set by her aunt at the age of five, Rebecca Shore began making art as a child. She studied art and art history at Vassar College and holds a degree in art therapy. Her journey from New York to Jerusalem began in 1984, and since moving to Israel, Judaism, Jewish tradition, and the Jerusalem landscape have become central themes in her work.

In 1988 she launched a line of Judaica, ketubot, and children’s prints known for their vibrant imagery and distinctive graphic style. In the early 2000s she began working in oils, studying with Jordan Wolfson and Meir Appelfeld and attending workshops at the Jerusalem Studio School.

For more than 25 years Shore has focused on plein air painting in and around Jerusalem. Alongside landscapes and still lifes, she also creates large abstract works inspired by Jewish mysticism and the visual memory of the landscape.
