The Association of Architects and Urban Planners in Israel is the official professional body representing Israeli architects. The association provides professional services to all active architects in Israel, approximately 5,000 in total.

The association is a member of the Israel Association of Engineers and Architects and represents the field of architecture within this framework.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION:

 

As a leading professional entity in the field of architecture, the primary goal of the association is to promote the profession and its practitioners.

The association’s objectives include:

 

– Establishing positions on architecture and spatial planning.

– Enhancing the professional standards of architecture in Israel.

– Advocating for legislative and regulatory changes.

– Promoting national planning initiatives.

 

The association collaborates with institutions and professional organizations in the planning and construction industry, architecture and urban planning schools, and international professional associations.

The Association of Architects and Urban Planners in Israel operates as a national organization, based on four regional branches and a special division for young architects.

 

MAIN ORGANIZATION ACTIVITIES:

 

The association’s activities are carried out through the following bodies:

 

– Governing and Policy-Making Bodies – The General Assembly, the Executive Committee (National Board), the Secretariat, and the Administration.

– Regional Branches – Jerusalem, Tel Aviv & Central, Haifa & Northern Region, Be’er Sheva & Southern Region, and a dedicated division for young architects.

– Professional Committees – Approximately 12 national committees and around 10 branch-level committees.

– Working Groups (Modeled after UIA) – Professional activities within about five working groups.

– Organizational Committees – Audit, Finance, Membership, and Advisory Office (professional and legal).

 

All activities are carried out on a voluntary basis by members of the association.

  • Architectural Snapshot: Critical exhibitions, competitions, solo exhibitions, young architects, and student projects
• Publishing Books and Catalogs
• Legislative Initiatives and Advocacy, including parliamentary and committee work on planning and building laws, safety regulations, accessibility, building codes, and more
• Addressing Professional Ethics, responding to inquiries from architects and the public
• Promoting Copyright Protection, including advocacy for copyright laws and defending against infringement
• Providing Arbitration, Expert Opinions, and Mediation – resolving professional disputes
• Architect Registration, Licensing, and Defining Professional Standards
• Academic Collaboration, supporting curriculum development and selecting outstanding projects in institutions such as:
