Migrash Beiti: The Municipality of Rishon Lezion Will Turn a Building Designated for Demolition in the Ramat Eliyahu Neighborhood into a Colorful, Innovative, Photogenic Pop-Up Exhibition.
The Municipality of Rishon Lezion is launching an extraordinary project in which a building designated for demolition in the revitalizing Ramat Eliyahu neighborhood will be transformed into a colorful, innovative, and large-scale pop-up exhibition, offering a unique art experience that connects the community with urban renewal processes.
“Migrash Beiti” exhibition is an initiative of the municipality, in collaboration with the Community Administration, the Planning and Building Administration, the Social Integration Administration, the Urban Renewal Administration in Ramat Eliyahu, and the City Culture, Leisure, and Sports Company. The project is curated and led by the Ramat Eliyahu Art Workshop, a leading body in the development of local art and innovative community projects.
For 11 days, from March 19-29, the building will become a living, breathing art space, where 20 leading Israeli artists will take over the space and collaborate with over 300 residents of the neighborhood. Together, they will create a series of original artworks, including stunning installations, murals and graffiti, large sculptures, and interactive works, spanning across 15 rooms and outdoor courtyards. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge.
Among the participating artists: Uri Holban, Itamar Floga, Erez Ozen, Gil Meiodoser Bauman, Galya Pavlitsenko, Dina Shenhav, Dana Cohen, Liav Mizrahi, Maya Zahavi, Moshe Terkah, Noga Roseman, Nir Aloni, Nir Jacobs Yonasi, Adi Weitzman, Oded Hirsch, Amit Gabish, Kalkidan Almo, Roxy Montano, Shay Id Aloni, Shira Gefstein Mushkovitz, Always-Never, DIOZ.
The “Migrash Beiti” exhibition aims to examine and reimagine the changing city – the processes of demolition and construction in the Ramat Eliyahu neighborhood, which is undergoing one of the largest evacuation-construction projects in the country, and the concepts of home, community, and public space. Through the artworks, the history of the Ramat Eliyahu neighborhood and the city of Rishon Lezion is presented, alongside a future vision based on collective creation.
Beyond the architectural and urban layer, this is a collective-community project that breathes life into the abandoned space and transforms it into a place of meeting, dialogue, and artistic experience full of color, imagination, and movement.
The Mayor of Rishon Lezion, Raz Kinstlich, said: “Migrash Beiti” project is an excellent example of how art, community, and urban renewal come together to create an extraordinary experience. In the Ramat Eliyahu neighborhood, which is undergoing a real revolution with one of the largest evacuation-construction projects in the country, we are not only rebuilding, but strengthening the community and creating spaces for culture, art, and discourse. I invite the residents of the city to come, experience, and enjoy a spectacular, innovative, and photogenic exhibition that reflects the present and future of the neighborhood and Rishon Lezion as a whole.”
The grand opening of the “Migrash Beiti” exhibition will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 18:00, at 1 Torah Ve’Avoda Street, in the presence of the Mayor, Raz Kinstlich, and the members of the City Council. Admission is free!
